Under 10 Carnival: Beleura Red 1.2 2.4 (16) defeated by GOALKICKERS: Beleura Red 0.0 0.0 (0) defeated GOALKICKERS: Beleura Red 0.0 0.0 (0) defeated GOALKICKERS: COACHES COMMENTS: Rosebud, 7 am you say, no problems I'll be there with a smile on. That's what I would have said, November through April. August, forecast gale force winds and sub zero temperatures made the early morning difficult, but given the entire team spent their morning at the playground near the oval I'm glad the enthusiasm was contagious. Rosebud was tough, I'm sure if we get over that first quarter concentration problem we would have beaten them. Three scoring shots against the wind was nothing to be upset by, given that Rosebud was scoreless in the 2nd half. Unfortunately our bent legs got the best of us again. Great effort by all involved, the coach was chuffed at your effort against an unknown team. Second game was more one-sided, we leant a few players to Sorrento to keep as many on the oval as possible. I didn't expect Rhys and Nathan to help out as well as they did scoring Sorrento’s only goal. Fortunately for Rhys he cancelled out his Sorrento goal by kicking one for us when he returned in the second half. Khyal and Bailey went on a goal kicking spree for the next few games and Corey chimed in for his first for the year. The Devon Meadows game went along similar lines to the rest of the year. By the last game the entire team was firing and heading for goal. I can't wait to see what this produces next year. To all the helpers on the day, Mark (goal umpire), Alyson (wrangler), Lindsay (Rhys fixer), assorted parents who kept us smiling all day thanks. Like last year this was a great fun day and it's a shame we no longer will be involved. I did take this day seriously but was easily distracted, so I don't have all of the goal kickers for the day and the proper scores for the 2nd and 3rd game, so given the ability to remember every football stat associated with their playing career I would ask the players to provide me with anything they have so I can put up for all to see.
ROUND 16: Beleura Red 1.1 3.5 8.7 10.11 (71) defeated MATCH DAY AWARDS: Lewis Trickett-Baines, Kianne Wells, Lachlan Haskett, Dylan Elliot, Beau Sciberras, Tyler Lawson, Corey Shale GOALKICKERS: Bailey Angwin (5), Lewis Trickett-Baines, Logan Yates, Khyal Jacobson, Lachlan Haskett, Jacob Lawson COACHES COMMENTS: I decided to throw caution to the wind today and tried everyone in positions they hadn't played before. My experiment ended at 1/2 time. You played well guys, though it showed being played out of position, you must always back yourself in any position you are given and play the best footy you possibly can. Eventually you will have a senior coach who will expect nothing less of you. I guarantee the spot you play in every week will not be the same spot you play in later in your footy career. I saw some great bumps in the first half from Rhys and Lewis and a great goal from Khyal playing in the forward pocket for the first time this year. Brenn, Harry, Nathan and Xavier did well for the first time together as an on ball team. A slow start let Devon Meadows creep further away in the second quarter. Rhys and Lewis worked well together resulting in a great goal for Lewis. At half time we all went back to our strongest positions and it showed as Devon Meadows did not score for the rest of the game. The 3rd quarter saw 3 goals from Bailey and one each from Logan and Jacob. Matthew's shot at goal in the 4th was fantastic only to be overruled by the field umpire even when Mark was goal umpire we couldn't reverse the decision. Lachie showed great teamwork with some fantastic shepherds and strong control in the centre keeping the ball in our forward line. Bailey's leg almost flew off ending with a 5 goal haul for the day. All in all a great way to finish the season!
ROUND 15: Beleura Red 1.2 2.2 3.2 3.5 (23) defeated by MATCH DAY AWARDS: Nathan Jewell, Sam Schwarz, James Sampson, Harry Lyon GOALKICKERS: Rhys McLaren, Bailey Angwin, Jacob Lawson COACHES COMMENTS: A great day all round. Great teamwork today all round. Great marking by Jacob and strong play by Nathan Jewell today. The accuracy of our goal kicking unfortunately let us down. For the coach it was like watching the 1998 AFL Grand Final all over again... We controlled the game for 3 quarters but just couldn't get over the line in the last. koleby had everyone at the scoreboard end with their hearts in their mouth but unfortunately that silly oval shape meant the ball bounced in the wrong direction for him. The highlight of the day was the heckling from Statler and Waldorf occupying the scoreboard behind the coaches box. You know who you are. ![]() Both Beleura Teams would like to thank Daniel Woods for stepping in to umpire today, a great effort appreciated by all.
ROUND 14: Beleura Red 1.1 4.1 8.4 11.6 (72) defeated MATCH DAY AWARDS: Lewis Trickett-Baines, Matthew Heikens, koleby Frier, Jacob Lawson GOALKICKERS: Sam Schwarz (3), Khyal Jacobson (3), Kianne Wells (2), Lewis Trickett-Baines, Lachlan Haskett COACHES COMMENTS: Great game guys, a slow start again which we need to work on. Strong teams will get the jump on us if we don't improve our starts. Today you shared the ball around well, standouts today were James's strong work in the centre and hard defence. Kianne's quick pass to Sam ended in a goal. Bailey's superboot from the flank almost made the goal of the day. Well done Harry for your first run in ruck, you showed great promise. koleby well done, you ran well in the centre and we'll have you there again soon. A strong showing from Brenn today, I moved you all over the ground and you never missed a beat! Jacob, a great run in the forward line, those snaps at goal almost came off. Lachie, traffic cop again, has taken to the role in the centre and continues to return the ball to the forward line. Your 1/4 at centre half forward lead to another goal for the year. Thanks to the guys who played in the backline in the last 1/4. I know sometimes it can get boring but you stayed switched on and made sure there were no more goals scored. Khyal, Rhys, Xavier, Logan, Will and koleby you held your positions well, a sign of disciplined footballers. Congrats to Lewis, a great goal in the last quarter and this time you did it from the forward line ;) Great work from Tyler in the forward line today, you are playing beyond your years! Matthew great work today, lots of strong bumps and you did well in the centre sharing the ruck role with Lachie. Kianne's goal celebrations get more impressive each week, can't wait to see what she brings out when we next play on a ground that isn't a foot deep in mud. Well done guys I appreciate your effort today, let's keep going and finish this year with a bang. Thanks to Josh, Emma and Max from Hastings for filling in for us today, great sportsmanship!
ROUND 13: Beleura Red 0.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 (12) defeated by Pearcedale/Baxter 1.4 1.5 3.5 4.5 (29) MATCH DAY AWARDS: Will Tozer, Khyal Jacobson, Lachlan Haskett, Dylan Elliot, Bailey Angwin, Brenn Lockhart-Meaney GOALKICKERS: Will Tozer, Dylan Elliot COACHES COMMENTS: Let me start with congratulations to everyone, it felt like a win because you played like a team. Today was a great indicator of what you can achieve when you trust your teammates and you refuse to give up until the very end. A slow start was to be expected at a rough ground but the pre match kick to kick kept the nerves down. Our backline weathered the storm as Pearcedale/Baxter shot out of the gates ready to kick a tonne. Lots of pressure by Kianne, James, Lewis, Brenn, Sam and Harry meant rushed behinds and off target kicks for Pearcedale. Even though we did not score, the ball spent plenty of time in our forward line. Unfortunately we lost Jacob to a hand injury in the first quarter robbing us of what could have been another two goals for the game. Our second quarter showed how much potential is in the team, we had Dylan kick his first goal for the year and our first against Pearcedale. A good strong mark in the goal square followed by a goal, had everyone celebrating. Lachies return to the team made a difference as he patrolled the centre and half back allowing Bailey, Khyal and Rhys to follow the ball and keep it in the forward line for most of the game. Bailey rucked well against a taller opponent and won more than half the duals. Khyal was a work horse again, always at the fall of the ball. Rhys and Lewis were strong today copping big hits but still getting up and playing well. Logan and Will showed fantastic pace on the wing, with Will eventually pushing through for his fourth goal of the year and our second against Pearcedale. koleby, Matt, Xavier, Dylan, Tyler and Nathan had a difficult job today. Making the best of opportunities on a ground where the ball stops dead in the mud is hard, but you all helped the team to score and you should be proud of your effort. Brenn, Sam and Harry were fantastic in defence. Brenn managed stop the biggest U/10 forward and was consistent throughout the game. Sam's goal line saves and running pickups were great to watch. Kianne again showed how tough she is by breaking into packs and getting the ball out of the backline on numerous occasions. Overall guys a fantastic game, lets finish the year out by playing the same way for every game.
Beleura Red 1.3 1.3 2.7 2.7 (19) defeated by Crib Point 0.0 3.0 4.0 6.4 (40) MATCH DAY AWARDS: Rhys McLaren, Nathan Jewell, Logan Yates, Harry Lyon GOALKICKERS: Rhys McLaren (2) COACHES COMMENTS: I walked to the ground this morning and it was almost dark enough for a torch. So with this in mind I watched many players arrive still rubbing the sleep out of their eyes. Weather was perfect for football today, unfortunately the time wasn't. This week we played well on ball but unfortunately didn't hold our opposition players well enough in the backline. Remember guys when the ball goes to the opposition you must fall back to your opponent and never let them get away. Some highlights for today, Harry had his first run in the centre and played well. Khyal, Bailey and Rhys continue to work well as an on ball team. James is showing promise as a future centre half forward and Logan's pace is fantastic for a wingman. Will continues to impress wherever he plays. Kianne and Lewis's marking was great and it helped get the ball out of the backline. Brenn showed his backline strength by reading the play and getting himself between the ball and the goal countless times. Beau was strong in packs today and followed the ball well earning him the Ball Magnet award. koleby, Matthew and Tyler worked well again in the forward line. Nathan, Dylan and Sam played well in 3 different positions today, well done guys. Crib Point ran away with the game in the last quarter and as I said after the game, they had decided they were going to win and their skills lifted with it, we weren't confident enough to lift with them. Let's believe in one another and play a better team game next week. Thankyou Crib Point players who played for us today; well done Josh, Matthew, Lachlan, Jake, James, Blake, Codey and Oscar.
Beleura Red 1.1 1.1 4.2 5.2 (32) defeated Tyabb 1.1 2.1 4.1 5.1 (31) MATCH DAY AWARDS: Xavier Uptin, Lewis Trickett-Baines, Sam Schwarz, James Sampson GOALKICKERS: Sam Schwarz (2), Rhys McLaren, Lewis Trickett-Baines, Will Tozer COACHES COMMENTS: It seems the first quarter is the hardest one for us. If we are awake our game starts with a bang and keeps going all day, if not, well its a slugout from start to finish. Sam made the first quarter a keeper by saving a goal on the line, while Rhys and Bailey got us on the scoreboard. Lewis put in a strong performance for his first game back from a break, working well in the backline with Kianne, James, Logan and Xavier. His time in the forward line earned him another goal for the year. Bailey and Sam kept the scoreboard ticking over in the 3rd quarter with Sam breaking through packs for 2 strong goals. Khyal, Bailey and Rhys working well around the ground to push the ball forward. A different on ball crew in the last quarter showed some of the depth we are lucky to have in the team. Well done to James, Beau, Matthew and koleby you worked well together today getting the ball forward to Will for a goal. The siren could not blow early enough in the last with the score neck and neck. With only seconds to go a snap at goal by Tyabb had Nathan pushing hard to stop it and kept us in front when the siren blew. Thanks to Heath, Harrison, Zac and Bailey from Tyabb. By playing for us you gave an extra player from Tyabb a chance to play.
Beleura Red 0.1 0.2 1.2 3.4 (22) defeated Sommerville 0.0 1.2 2.2 2.2 (14) MATCH DAY AWARDS: Kianne Wells, Khyal Jacobson, Bailey Angwin, Dylan Elliott, Jacob Lawson, Harry Lyon, Will Tozer GOALKICKERS: Rhys McLaren (2), Sam Schwarz COACHES COMMENTS: Rain, mud and 16 players all meant for a hard slog for everyone today. A slower start against a stronger team saw some worried faces in the coaching box. On ball work from Khyal, Rhys, Bailey and Jacob was strong but for the first half couldn't quite get through to goal. Beau had a fantastic bump in the first quarter and a strong game all round. Will and Logan stoodout and stoodup in the backline holding Sommerville scoreless in the second half. Kianne almost had us on the scoreboard in the first half but was robbed by the siren just metres from goal. Rhys's snap from the boundary for the goal of the match got us into the game, with another in the last and a strong burst through the pack by Sam got us home in the end. koleby is showing a strong build up in the forward line and Tyler almost scored from a set shot but was stopped by Sommerville's tall timber. Strong marking by Dylan in the forward line is a good sign for the future. Xavier and Nathan both worked hard in the cold conditions. A big welcome to Beleura for Harry Lyon, he had a big day and made an impact in his new team! Thankyou also Dylan, Harry, Mitch and Dan the Sommerville players who filled in for us today. And to Harry from Sommervile, great work for your first game of AFL!
Beleura Red 2.2 4.7 7.10 8.10 (58) defeated MATCH DAY AWARDS: koleby Frier, Matthew Heikens, Brenn Lockhart-Meaney GOALKICKERS: Xavier Uptin, Logan Yates, Matthew Heikens, Kianne Wells, Khyal Jacobson, James Sampson, Bailey Angwin, Brenn Lockhart-Meaney COACHES COMMENTS: What a day for footy! Wet, cold and challenging, but the team rose to the occasion. I'd like to thank Rhys for his inspiration for team placement this week. He suggested we try some different things in the ruck and we had 8 players who have never played in the ruck give it a red hot go. So to today's ruckmen; Xavier, Rhys, Kianne, Khyal, Sam, Will, Jacob and Dylan well done. We also took the opportunity to share the goal kicking around today. First for the year included Xavier's fantastic goal in the 2nd quarter. Logan's running goal in the 3rd, Matthews's cheeky snap at goal in the 1st. James's and Brenn worked well in the 3rd and both brought up their first goals for the year. Strong on ball work from Lachie, Khyal and Bailey throughout the day helped keep the scoreboard ticking over. It was a little slow in the backline today, but it was seen by coaching staff and parents that you held your position and didn't crowd the forward line. So thanks to Jacob, Kianne, Rhys and others who spent a lot of the day making sure the ball went forward. I can see Tyler, Nathan and koleby are within a whisker of getting their first goals for the year so let's get behind them next week guys! I'd like to welcome Dylan Elliott to the club, congrats on your first game mate you did well! Thankyou to Brad, Ben, Josh and Lily from Devon Meadows who played for us during the game to bring us up to 18. Great effort guys!

defeated MATCH DAY AWARDS: Jacob Lawson, Logan Yates, Beau Scibberas, Sam Schwarz GOALKICKERS: Kianne Wells (4), Rhys McLaren (3), Sam Schwarz(2), Bailey Angwin (2), Jacob Lawson (2), Will Tozer, Khyal Jacobson COACHES COMMENTS: No wind, no rain, just a crisp quiet morning for football. After last weeks hard slog everyone was looking for a chance to return to form. The return of Sam and Will made a big difference in the forward line with Sam adding 2 goals to his tally for the year in the 1st quarter. Will added another in the 2nd quarter. koleby had his first run in the middle and showed great potential for the future with kicks, handballs and assists. The coaching staff were excited as the ball was shared well all day. Little did we no a goal scoring monster in our midst with Kianne putting 2 through in the second and another 2 for the rest of the game. Celebratory cart wheels all round...Rhys returned to form with 3 goals and some hard faught play. Corey had some great play today with a big mark just falling short. Logan and Xavier teamed up well in the ruck, helping the team to a 4 goal quarter. Brenn's snap at goals from the boundary would have been goal of the day but was stopped at the last second. James almost had his first for the year, but his big kick veered off and robbed him of glory! Jacob was back on top today with two goals and what could have been the mark of the day, a one hander as he passed the point post! Lewis, Khyal, Bailey and Lachie were go to players again showing how well they can control the middle. Nathan Jewell and Beau shared the middle and helped the team to a 3 goal quarter well done guys. The ball was controlled so well from the middle our backline was a lonely place today. A big thankyou to Hastings today, they are a squad of young kids who are new to football and they tried their hearts out. To the Hastings guys who filled in for us to bring the numbers up to 18 thanks, you showed great sportsmanship when your team needed you.
Beleura Red 0.0 0.0 0.0 0.0 (0) defeated by MATCH DAY AWARDS: Xavier Uptin, Lewis Trickett-Baines, James Sampson, Brenn Lockhart-Meaney, koleby Frier COACHES COMMENTS: A lot came from todays game, the score did not reflect the effort the team put in. Down to only 16 players with no one on the bench it meant everyone had to run for the entire game; regardless of injury or tiredness. I stand by what I said during and after the game, a fantastic effort against a strong team. A much better effort than the week before. A strong work ethic from our backline with Brenn, Logan, Beau, Lewis and James working hard to stop everything they could at half back. Khyal, Lachlan, Bailey and Kianne putting everything they could into the game to get the ball down forward. Jacob and Xavier working tirelessly across the half forward flank taking every opportunity to get the ball to Matthew, Corey and Nathan Jewell. koleby again playing well finding his place in his new team. Thanks guys you made me proud today.
Beleura Red 0.4 1.4 3.6 4.7 (31) defeated Crib Point 2.0 3.3 3.3 3.4 (22) MATCH DAY AWARDS: Kianne Wells, Khyal Jacobson, Lachlan Haskett, Bailey Angwin, Matthew Heinkens, Tyler Lawson GOALKICKERS: Khyal Jacobson (2), Bailey Angwin (2) COACHES COMMENTS: Our first half today left us asking a few questions, silly errors and missed opportunities gave Crib Point every reason to lift and take every opportunity to get in front. Some great work by Brenn and Bailey stopped Crib Point from running away in the first half. Some tactical moves on field and some home truths spoken at half time brought the fight back into the side and I saw commitment from all and it showed on the scoreboard. Wednesdays training was low and I think it showed on Sunday. Guys we need to show the same effort and focus at training that you show on Sundays, Poor training = Poor match result. I would like to welcome koleby Frier to the team and congratulate him on a great first game. It can be hard to step into a team that has a lot of experience, you did well mate! I also forgot to welcome to the team, Bailey Angwin. He has played 5 games with us now and has excelled in each.
Beleura Red 2.3 2.4 4.5 8.6 (54) defeated Tyabb 0.1 0.2 1.2 2.2 (14) MATCH DAY AWARDS: Logan Yates, Corey Shale, Matthew Heikens, Sam Schwarz, Beau Sciberras GOALKICKERS: Sam Schwarz(3), Rhys McLaren, Khyal Jacobson, Lachlan Haskett, Bailey Angwin, Jacob Lawson COACHES COMMENTS: Another great day for football, fantastic weather and Mothers Day to boot! Another unknown team for last years Beleura 3rds, so a chance to test ourselves again. I asked alot of the team today and boy did they deliver. Our 2nd and 3rd quarters were step up time for our new recruits, with a fantastic display of teamwork and skills from them and disciplined football from our backline kept Tyabb scoreless for most of the game. I am proud of your sportsmanship guys, fantastic effort by all. MATCH COMMENTARY:
