COACHES COMMENTS:  Our first home game and best so far. We welcomed 2 new players to our team, Jordan Tenderson and Wil Reilly. The team were lead today by our captains, Joel, who got plenty of possessions and marked well all day, and Conner, who ran hard and used his body in the packs.  
The 1^st qtr started well with a goal from Wil and a mark and shot at goal by Jordan. Great first out contributions from both. Our backline worked hard, lead by Joe at FB with onballers Lachlan and Bailey dropping back to help out. Ky got plenty of the ball on the wing with Jack on the opposite wing putting in some solid body work and smothers. The 2^nd qtr was very even, with only 1pt scored by Pearcedale. Matthew was again everywhere, and bringing his teammates into the game with great teamwork. Kyle.N. was busy up forward while Harry Allsop had another great game in defence, even though he was playing at CHF. Wesley had a spell in the ruck and threw himself into it. In the 3^rd qtr Madeleine moved into the centre and won a lot of the ball in the packs and Lachlan moved forward for his 1^st goal and a great example of chasing your opponent down and winning the ball. Joshua, the running machine, really came into the game when he moved onto the ball, and Luke threw himself into the packs, taking a solid bump for a teammate. Our 3^rd goal came from Joe in the last qtr with some fancy footwork. Jake was lively up forward, unlucky not to goal, and Harry Argus had his best game for the season, enjoying his time on the wing. Another solid game from Kyle T. who consistently snatches the ball out of the packs and runs his 10 before delivering forward. There were some excellent passages of play out there today and the way you worked as a team was impressive. Well done!!

COACHES COMMENTS:  "We played Somerville at Crib Point today in perfect conditions. The 1^st qtr was fairly even with Somerville finishing slightly ahead. Matthew Bullock scored early with the ball being worked well out of the centre by our midfielders Kyle T. and Kyle N. Again the 2^nd qtr was close with our last line of defence in Lachlan, Bailey and Wesley working hard. Joshua and Harrison had eyes only for the ball and clashed heads with both courageously brushing it off and playing on. Matthew, who ran hard all day and got plenty of the ball, scored a second goal along with Jake who found some open space by working hard. Somerville put on 4 goals in the 3^rd qtr but still we tried hard with Conner running and running to harass the opposition. Luke was at the bottom of the packs, Madelaine was chasing and finding space. In the last qtr we put together some good passages of play by running in numbers and finding space and kept the opposition to 1 goal. Joel again did everything asked of him and Ky enjoyed being on the ball with some good possessions. Joe worked tirelessly in all positions with plenty of possessions as well. Our 2 captains today were Jack, who again put in plenty of bumps, and Matthew. The team should be proud of their efforts today as Somerville are a 2^nd year U/10s team with some bigger players. Thanks to the Somerville coach, Peter, for his encouraging words after the game. A good effort from all. Well done."

COACHES COMMENTS:  "Another great effort from our team today. From the outset, we were lead by our 2 captains, Madelaine, who chased and pressured all day, and Jake, who put his body on the line to win the ball. The 1^st quarter saw Matthew and Jack combining well up forward with a goal each.  Luke and Harrison worked hard around the centre bounces while Joshua and Kyle T. defended well on the backline. In the 2^nd quarter Ky and Jake teamed up for a goal each and Harrison moved to the backline to help keep Rosebud scoreless again. Joel and Lachlan played disciplined games, dropping back consistently to man up.  Conner worked hard in the ruck and back pocket all day, with Kyle N. playing a solid game up front. Joe and Bailey got plenty of the ball working on the wings, dropping back to help the backs. Wesley took on the biggest player on the ground in the 2^nd half putting in some solid bumps. Harry again played a good game in defence before moving forward after courageously taking a bump to the head. Rosebud are to be admired for fighting back in the last quarter with 2 goals 4pts. It was good to see blue and red jumpers at the bottom of the packs and teammates running to help each other. Every player contributed and again sang the team song with gusto. Well done!!

COACHES COMMENTS:  "We had perfect conditions for our teams debut. Somerville got the jump on us in the 1st qtr with 2 goals. In the 2nd qtr our kids became a football team. They ran in numbers and backed each other up, started picking up loose players and ran hard all day. They chipped away at the score board, hitting the front in the 3rd qtr. In the final term Somerville attacked the goals but our backline held up and kept them scoreless. Every player contributed to the win and sang the team song with pride after the game. Well done!!"

MATCH COMMENTARY:

First Quarter: The teams first ever game with a bit of a slow start they got back into the game through good teamwork with Connor F, Josh, Joe, Ky and Matthew and Joel all working well.

Second Quarter: This is where the teamwork from the first quarter all started to work with Kyle T getting a good bump but got up really quickly and handballed, Jack gave 2 good bumps, Matthew grabbed a specky and Madeleine, Bailey, Harry Argus and Kyle N all getting some touches of the ball

Third Quarter: With position moves the team adapted well and Lachie B, Luke and Jake getting some kicks with all the team now running and handballing to each other and all of them putting their bodies in for the ball and bumping as they have at training.

Fourth Quarter: With the game close all players really put in a great effort with Wes taking a good mark, Harry A playing well with Ky and Matthew in the backline. Joe playing well in the centre, Lachie, Jake and Josh and the rest of the team pushing all the way to the end of the game. Great effort and a win.
