- TANTI CUP FINAL: Beleura Red 0.0 0.0 (0) defeated by Mt Martha 1.5 7.9 (51)
COACHES COMMENTS: "We faced a difficult day having to play three games in a row in windy conditions, but you did yourselves and the club proud. Unlike Mt Martha, we didn't play a combined club Under 10s team and decided that keeping our team together was more important than any result. With Dromana giving late notice of withdrawal of the day, the decision was made to extend the games to 15 minute halves. We played so well in all our games and ran hard all morning. There was some great team play, and all of you did your very best - what more can I ask of you? See you all on Presentation Day and I look forward to an exciting year in 2010 in Under 11s."

ROUND 16: Beleura Red 4.2 4.5 4.7 5.9 (39) defeated Devon Meadows 0.0 0.0 0.2 1.2 (8)
COACHES COMMENTS: "Great effort in a tough game, but you stood up and showed them how to play footy. Excellent first quarter where we played an open style of game before the opposition dropped a few players back to make it a bit of a scrap. When this happened, you all pressured them very well and stopped a lot of their forward thrusts. You are all great sports and I'm very proud of you all. Well done on a great year, where we have improved in so many areas. Remember all the lessons we have learnt and build on it. Don't forget, training for the last two weeks is now on Thursdays."

COACHES COMMENTS: "Congratulations on the win boys but we seemed a bit flat today. Our running game was not where it should be and there was no talk. We pressured Tyabb very well and it was this pressure that got us over the line. Tyson and Zane had great games on the ball and both boys have taken their footy to another level. Let's all improve from this and run Hastings off their feet next week. Well done."

COACHES COMMENTS: Great game guys. I said that they would come at us in the last quarter with the wind and they did. But you held out and played a magnificent defensive quarter. Josh Goudge did a great job getting up from his injury kicking three beautiful goals in the third when we needed to push hard. That's seven wins in a row now guys and our tenth for the year. I am so proud of you all, especially on how much you have all improved. Well done"

MATCH COMMENTARY: 1st Quarter: The game started fantastic with the boys in the forward line passing to one another. Sam passed on to Shelby then to Jayden which got us our first goal. The back line put up a great fight and battled hard keeping the ball out - some great defending. Kyrin played in the centre and did some wonderful chasing and bumping - a great quarter by him. Then another great passage of play with passing from Sam to Jack gave us another goal. Wonderful quarter boys. 2nd Quarter : A lot of the ball this quarter was in the backline which resulted in Pearcedale/Baxter getting a few goals, but the boys in the backline battled hard. Ryan received a lot of the ball by playing in front of his player - great work Ryan. Michael puts his whole body on the line, fighting hard for the ball and running hard as well. Wonderful work Michael. 3rd Quarter : Josh Goudge had a fantastic quarter kicking three goals by running hard - great quarter Josh. Sneaky Sam got alot of the ball but just could not get the goal he wanted kicking a few points (which almost added up to a goal). The boys in the backline had a rest as not much of the ball headed down that way which was great. There was some great marks in this quarter by Ryan and Zach. Well done boys. 4th Quarter : What a quarter the boys had. They battled hard for this quarter wanting the win bad and that was what they got, by a point. The backline was fantastic by bumping, shepherding, and just desperately keeping the ball from Pearcedale's goals. Shelby stopped a goal by staying back and touching it through. Joshua Christensen had a great quarter running hard and getting the ball from his opponents. With the wind against us, it was a fantastic but nervous quarter. The whole team has improved 100% and plays as a team. Fantastic boys - Well done.

COACHES COMMENTS: "Unbelievable game today boys. Would have to be the best game that I have seen you play. To take it up to the top team like we did and have their coach say after the game that we are the best in the comp is a credit to you all. Just need to back it up next week." Thank you to the boys that played a quarter for Somerville - Brandon, William, Zane, and Joshua Christensen - you are great sports!

COACHES COMMENTS: "Very pleased in your effort today. We ran hard and it payed off. We need to work on keeping our forward line more open to take full advantage of the ball being there for most of the game. Our centre clearances were excellent and this made it harder for the opposition. Well done and congratulations on a whole team effort. A big thank you and well done to all the boys that played a quarter for Beleura Blue (Zane, Josh C, Kyrin, Ryan, Brandon, Oskar, Tyson, and Will)."

MATCH COMMENTARY:
Beleura Red Under 10s were a force to be reckoned with on this cold, crisp, foggy Sunday morning. The football was pumped up with pride for them, but was too hard to kick - so some air had to be let out of it. The team work started in the first quarter and continued on throughout the game. They were hungry to get the ball and win the game, as were the opposition team, who swarmed all over them. The opposition scored the first goal of the match and Jack retaliated by scoring a great goal. Zach had a few great kicks and Sam 'The Pocket Rocket' got a free kick and scored a goal. In the second quarter the Red team dominated, keeping the football in the forward line. Zach had a few great bumps, proving having a haircut does not take away your power! Josh G had a few great kicks and Sam took a fantastic mark. The last two minutes of the quarter saw the other team get the ball down to their forward line, Liam swiftly sent it back and Sam kicked a sensational goal with seconds to the siren. At the third quarter the fog was thicker, but this did not stop Beleura Red with Will and Callum's good shepherding, protecting their team mates and the ball. Kryin showed his skill in bumping and received a free kick, good pick up and kick from Jayden. The team did their best running today, with great kicks by Brodey, Michael, Will and Liam. Matthew hit the ball out of the centre at the fourth quarter. We were determined to win, Josh and Oskar helped kept the pressure on the other team when they had the ball. Brodey took a great mark and Michael helped get the football back down to our forward line with a great kick. It was a fantastic game, all players were involved giving it all they had. It was a great show of team spirit and resulted in a well deserved win.

MATCH COMMENTARY: 1st Quarter : There was some great bumping by the boys. Josh Goudge was everywhere in the forward line after the ball and played great, scoring a goal after a strong mark in front of goals. Rocket man Sam was on the go again also with a great goal. 2nd Quarter : Matt started the second quarter with a great mark which he took off and scored a goal. Shelby took a ripper of a mark and played on fast to keep the game going. This quarter the boys talked more to one another, keeping the ball most of the quarter, in our forward line with Josh Goudge kicking another great goal. Little Lochie M ran hard and got the ball well all over the ground. 3rd Quarter : The boys passed great to one another down the field which we got a great down the field which we go a great goal from Jayden from a super kick - Oskar did the team thing and shepherded the ball through the goals which was great work. Brodey and Michael played well in the backline kepping the pressure on Crib Point keeping the ball out of the back half - Well done. There was some beautiful kicking from the boys in the quarter. 4th Quarter: Centre clearances this quarter was beautiful with Matt tapping the ball out straight to our rovers who kicked the ball straight to our forward line. Liam and Kyrin chased and put a lot of pressure on the other team, getting the ball well the quarter. Great shepherding from Zach helping his team mates alot - Well done. Well done Beleura boys. Another great win. You all played fantastic as a team.
ROUND 9 - Beleura Red 3.3 6.5 9.6 11.13 (79) defeated Devon Meadows 0.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 (6)
COACHES COMMENTS: "Magnificent team game today boys. We saw some great shepherding and backing each other up. It was the best that we ran today and it payed off with some great running goals. We also kept our forward line open for most of the game and this made a big difference. Congratulaitons on a superb game."

MATCH COMMENTARY:
The first quarter started with a bang, as Zac started with a nice tap out from the centre. Great support from the on ballers delivered the ball to the goal square within seconds, where Jacob snapped and scored the first goal. Its wasn't long before the ball was down in out forward again, and Jacob starred with another goal from a beautiful kick. It seemed like the ball spent most of the quarter in our scoring end - the defenders looked cold! One time when the ball did make it to the other teams forward line, the great back line stood up lead my Liam and the ball was diverted back to the middle. There were some other magic pieces of play from Ryan, Sam and Lachie D and Lochie M looked like a superstar as he skid into a superb mark.
?>
The second quarter saw Jacob continue on his goal scoring train. Lachie D delivered a great drop punt to Callum who snapped a nice goal. Zac was all over the ball in the middle, getting into everything and was very focused on the game. The usual great pressure and skills of Michael and Josh in the middle created lots of opportunities. This allowed for Kyrin, Ryan, Sam and Tyson to show some great ball control and running skills. There were some great bumps and lots of really good sheppards.
The third quarter continued with great play, and there were lots of our players getting good touches. Jack was strong and steady in the goal square. Matt and Josh G teamed up to deliver the ball to Sam, who scored a ripper goal. Oskar got stuck in to the play and helped his team mates out with good support. Josh C seemed to run and run and run, and had some great touches in pressure situations. Kyrin and Jacob got 100 clean possessions between them both - unfortunately, on the side line (nice practising though!)
The fourth quarter was chilly as the wind picked up and the clouds got dark. Good play again the quarter. Matt scored a nice goal. There was a great passage of play from Kyrin, to Sam, to Zach and to Josh G and then to Matt - all clean and precise!!! Nice work guys. We hit the post a few times in the quarter as we tried to snap at the goals. The highlight of the last quarter was without a doubt the gem of a goal from Zane, right on the boundary.
Great team effort, the ball was shared around a lot and everyone had an impact!

BEST PLAYERS: Kyrin Brook, Shelby Burdett, Jayden Bell-Inskip, Jack Hodgetts, Brandon Bartolo
GOALKICKERS: Jack Hodgetts (4), Matthew Mayne (2), Liam Reilly (1), Lachlan Dalziel (1)
MATCH COMMENTARY: 1st Quarter : Great start to the game kicking three goals in the first quarter. Goals to Lachie D, Jack, and Liam really put Hastings on the back foot. Lochie M got involved in this quarter with some great play and Zach was playing an awesome game in the ruck. Brandon won the footy by getting a free kick by laying two bumps and passed the ball perfectly. The whole team was talking well and there was great team work. 2nd Quarter : Jacob really starred in this quarter and was into everything. Jack scored another awesome goal brought about by more great team play. Kyrin was courageous by smothering a Hasting kick. The whole team was putting pressure on Hastings who couldn't get any flow into their game. Our boys kept bumping them as soon as they took possesion. Matt finished off the quarter with a great goal and Jayden was starting to get a bit of the footy. 3rd Quarter : Jack kicked the first goal this quarter with Matt kicking another. The boys were on fire and now with Callum in the ruck and Zach in defence, Hastings had no answer. Liam and Josh G had fantastic quarters putting their bodies on the line with great smothers. Our defence was outstanding, playing very tight and not letting any Hastings attack result in a score. 4th Quarter : A great passage of play with some direct passing ending up with another goal to Jack. Liam and Lochie M had another great quarter and Sam was starring with more of his trademark runs. Shelby got alot of the footy and passed the ball well. The whole team had an awesome game and the boys really enjoyed singing the song in the rooms. Well done.
ROUND 7 - Beleura Red 3.1 4.3 5.3 7.4 (46) defeated Tyabb 0.1 1.1 1.2 1.2 (8)
COACHES COMMENTS: "Superb job today boys. You all did the 'team' things today and it payed off. We also pressured Tyabb very well today and earned alot of good free kicks. Magnificent game - Let's roll it on to next week." Welcome Jayden Bell-Inskip to Beleura - Congratulations on your first game!
BEST PLAYERS: Jacob Harris, Michael West, Lochlan Merriner, Matthew Mayne, Jack Hodgetts, Liam Reilly
GOALKICKERS: Jack Hodgetts (2), Matthew Mayne (2), Lachlan Dalziel (1), Sam Lee-Conway (1), Michael West (1)
MATCH COMMENTARY: First Quarter: Started off well with good passage of play- WESTY (Michael) gained possession and gave it off to GOUDGEY (Josh G) and then to the HASS (Zac) after a magnificent second effort, he gave it to LC (Sam), who got it to BIG TUB (Liam). A quick kick to MAD DOG (Matthew) who kicked it to HODGEY (Jack) who nailed it from 30. The HASS was in everything contesting and making the opposition earn every possession. CHRISTO (Josh C) with a courageous mark in defence stopped a forward thrust by Tyabb. BIG TUB without fear made a fantastic smother which gave us the opportunity for a shot on goal. LC gained possession in the pocket with MAD DOG shepherding and talking was able to put it through the big sticks. Our defence was fantastic with WOODSY (Callum) running hard to stop Tyabb scoring, and GOUDGEY running the ball out. WESTY was very clean and Jacob RALPH Harris was staunch with his efforts. Lochy and Lachy both ran well and were disciplined in accounting for their man. Ryan and the BART MAN Brandon gave plenty of options to the ball carrier. The new kid on the block Jayden fitted in well with the team with some good efforts. 3-1 to 0-1 a great quarter. Second Quarter This quarter was a little slower and a little boring for the spectators after the first, however, there was a good passage of play which started on the wing then to MAD DOG who got it to HODGEY who put his second one through the middle. This quarter was a bit of a stalemate as our intensity fell away. A bit more talking and shepherding required. Zane and BILLY THE KIDD (Tyson) gave plenty of options and ran well. Tyabb had their back to the wall and their coach tried some stalling tactics after the break. 1-2 to 1-0 for the quarter a win just. Third Quarter RALPH Harris played like Jake the peg with a third leg as he stopped every forward move made by Tyabb. The last man in defence stood tall even with 3 opposition players bearing down on him. MAD DOG had a long shot on goal which spilled to ground when the swooper WESTY scooped it up and snapped a pearler. WESTY handballed to WOODSY on the run who passed it like a bullet to LC great flowing play. KAZZA (Kyrin) was in everything covering more Real Estate than his old man. SHANDY (Brodey) carrying an injury used his voice well and made good leads. When Tyabb had possession Shelby and Will stuck to their opponents like glue. 1-0 to 0-1 another hard fought quarter. Fourth Quarter The HASS won a kick in front of goal had a shot, but the man on the mark crept forward as he kicked it. This was picked up by the ump and he was given another kick. The opposition players were carrying on and abusing Zac, so what did he do? A very smart and quick decision to hand pass the ball over the mark to MAD DOG who was waiting like a hungry beast. MAD DOG turned and yes another goal. Great thinking Zac (TYABB players were gob smacked) GOUDGEY spoiled an opposition mark with a punch that Muhammad ALI would have been proud of. In the last seconds of the game LC got the ball to MAD DOG who moved like a ballerina turning on his toes to snap yet another goal. 2-1 to 0-0 well finished off ran it out until the final siren.
ROUND 6 - Beleura Red 0.2 0.2 0.2 0.2 (2) defeated by Pearcedale/Baxter 0.2 1.9 2.11 3.16 (34)
COACHES COMMENTS: "I was extremely proud of the way you handled yourselves today against a tough opposition. Even when the opposition was targeting us off the ball, I was especially impressed by us not lowering yourselves to their bad sportsmanship and just playing the game. We worked better as a team today - we just need to work on leading and kicking to space and getting our running game working. A top effort against a difficult team, but we'll get them next time."
BEST PLAYERS: Liam Reilly, Callum Woods, Lachlan Dalziel, Zane Bradbery, Oskar Bacher
MATCH COMMENTARY: The first quarter started with a flurry of activity in the middle, as Beleura went all in for the ball. Good defensive skills from Liam saw a quick turnover in the middle, and the teamwork of Josh G and Michael saw the first point scored. The forward line went defensive to keep the ball up our end. Pearcedale tried to send it down the ground, but a good bump by Josh G and some nice sheppards held the ball up and Beleura scored another point. Late in the quarter Peacedale looked like they were making a run for the goal, but the good chasing from Kyrin and Tyson kept the pressure on, and a great spoil by Liam kept the ball out of their forward line. The quarter also saw Zach nearly touch the clouds with a specky over team mate Lachlan D, but unfortunately for us it didn?t result in a clean possession. The game was even at two points each at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter saw the ball spend a lot of time in Pearcedale?s scoring half and they did some damage on the scoreboard. Some Beleura highlights were strong marks from Matt and some in an under skills from Lochlan M. Late in the quarter Beleura were making a run along the boundary, with some good kicking and nice marking, but unfortunately the siren sounded. Beleura was scoreless in the quarter and Pearcedale scored to 7 points and 1 goal
The sun came out for the third quarter. This time the ball spent a lot time in our forward, but we couldn?t convert it on the scoreboard. Sam got a lot of the play in this quarter with some crucial touches, and Lachlan D and Liam teamed up well to create a number of nice passages of play. Our defence held up well again this quarter, with Pearcedale only scoring two points.
The fourth quarter started with good ball skills of Sam and Michael to push the ball towards Beleura's goals. This was a physical quarter, and there were lots of bumps and spoils. Josh G put his body on the line with a superb spoil in Pearcedale?s forward line which resulted in a turn over. Callum stood tall in defence and proved to a good backstop, and remained calm under pressure by rushing a behind.
It was a great game to watch boys, and you can see how much you've improved since last year when you played this very good team. It was also good to see lots of running on what was a big sized ground. You should all be proud of yourselves!

COACHES COMMENTS: "Alot better this week. Some great team work and passages of play. Magnificent second quarter when we started to run more. We are learning and improving all the time. Well done."
BEST PLAYERS: Kyrin Brook, Zach Hassan, Sam Lee-Conway, Joshua Goudge
GOALKICKERS: Shelby Burdett (2), Sam Lee-Conway (1), Lachlan Dalziel (1), Jack Hodgetts (1), Michael West (1)
MATCH COMMENTARY: The Mothers Day clash between Beleura Red and Somerville began under sunny skies at Somerville and promised to be a "tough" encounter. The first quarter was highlighted by some strong marking by both teams and some good ruck work by Beleura. Coach Paul, was looking for stability in the team structure by playing most players in the same position which paid off with a really strong second quarter. There were some great passages of play that saw the ball carried from the backline all the way to the forward line. There were also some great smothers which showed a lot of desperation. During the 3rd quarter the boys pressured the opposition hard and worked well as a team to hold Somerville who were kicking to the goal scoring end. The last quarter was all set for Beleura to storm home, however, Somerville fought hard and our boys could not convert their good work into enough goals. Against a pretty tall and skilful opposition our boys worked hard at the ball and showed some great passages of footy. It was a great match, fought out to the end. Well done team!
ROUND 4 - Beleura Red 0.0 0.0 0.1 2.1 (13) defeated by Beleura Blue 0.0 1.1 2.2 2.4 (16)
COACHES COMMENTS: "Bad luck boys. I hope you all learn alot from today. We were beaten by a team that was prepared to run and it was only in the last quarter that we were prepared to do this. Let's improve and bounce back next week."
BEST PLAYERS: Liam Reilly, Lochy Merriner, Josh Christensen, Shelby Burdett, Brandon Bartolo
GOALKICKERS: Sam Lee-Conway (1), Shelby Burdett (1)
MATCH COMMENTARY: 1st Quarter : The boys seemed to all be asleep! Great defence by Zach. Liam provided good ball play and direction. Jacob was marking really well. Michael was excellent on the ball. Callum was attacking through the middle, creating options. 2nd Quarter : Started off slowly - still asleep! Brodey was attacking strongly. Zach took some good overhead marking and kicked well. Jacob is proving hard to beat in a marking contest. Lochlan M. was great in attack, good turn of pace. Lachaln D. was solid in defence. 3rd Quarter : Beleura Blue started off really strong. Matthew provided some great defence. Brodey was trying hard to create options. Liam and Jacob were working well in attack. The backline was caught out not manning up which resulted in an easy goal to the opposition. Will showing good skills, coverage and defending well. 4th Quarter : Boys really lifted in this quarter. They ran hard and bumped hard. Jacob and Sam were strong in attack. Jacob created play in the centre of the ground, ran 30 metres with a bounce and kicked the ball to Sam. Liam running beautifully across half forward, creating chances. Shelby kicked a great scrapping goal and Sam was running hard.
ROUND 3 - Beleura Red 3.5 3.5 6.6 8.6 (54) defeated Crib Point 0.0 1.1 1.1 1.1 (7)
COACHES COMMENTS: "Magnificent game guys. Your 2nd and 4th quarters against the strong wind were the best quarters you have played so far. To kick two goals into that wind and keeping them scoreless in the last quarter was incredible. Great courage was shown by putting your bodies on the line and showing no fear. Well done - top effort."

Sam Lee-Conway kicked some great goals in this quarter and the whole team showed some great skills in the bad conditions. 2nd Quarter : Great team work in this quarter. Some great passing and handballing. An excellent defensive quarter holding Crib Point to just one goal. The team really stood up and had a great quarter. 3rd Quarter: Took advantage of the wind and attacked well kicking three goals. Some great passages of play with direct passing and when the other team had the ball, we chased and bumped very well. 4th Quarter : An amazing quarter against the wind. A quick goal from the middle where Jack and Lachlan D. were involved set the tone. A couple of great marks from Zac and Shelby capped off this quarter where we kicked two goals into the wind and kept them scoreless! Great to watch.

BEST PLAYERS: Tyson Kidd, Sam Lee-Conway, Matthew Mayne, Ryan Abbott, Callum Woods
GOALKICKERS: Jack Hodgetts (3), Sam Lee-Conway (2), Ryan Abbott (1), Matthew Mayne (1)
MATCH COMMENTARY: Captain: Lachlan Dalziel. Vice Captain: Matthew Mayne
1st Quarter : Beleura had early pressure with Callum dominating the ruck. The game was played mostly in Devon Meadows half but they kicked a breakaway goal. Beleura kept pushing forward with Matthew covering a lot of ground. Ryan Abbott took four marks to help keep the pressure on. Good to see players keeping positions and not crowding. 2nd Quarter : Beleura kicked its first goal by Jack soon after the siren. Soon after, good work from Zac and Lachlan D. led to another goal to Jack. A top mark from Jack off a kick from Callum, scored another Beleura goal. Top effort boys! Good to hear calling, good kicks and strong marks. Sustained pressure let to Matthew kicking a goal. 3rd Quarter : More competitive this quarter with Devon Meadows scoring the first point. Callum had a top quarter at full back. Beleura seem to be taking it easy this quarter and good work from backs prevented too many points scored. Only 2 points to Devon Meadows this period. Time to wake up again Bs. 4th Quarter : Top goal from Ryan after good kicking and passing. Looks like they're awake again! Good mark from Zac from a bad kickout led to Sam snapping a goal for Beleura. Excellent individual goal again by Sam. A top effort 'Reds' - just went to sleep in the third quarter.

MATCH COMMENTARY: 1st Quarter - Good 1 st quarter for the year boys, the first goal was kicked by Jack in 2min, 28sec. Your 2 nd goal was achieved by fantastic team work. The ball started with Jacob at full back, he kicked it to Callum, who gave it to Ryan, and then to Michael through the middle, then to Liam on the half forward line, it was then kicked to our new recruit Zac who kicked his first goal for his new team, well done. The opposition team didn?t even touch the ball during this play. I must mention Josh G?s marking in the first quarter very clean and good judgement. 2nd Quarter - Josh G running to the back of the pack (with some advice from the old blokes on the boundary) the ball carried with the wind. Josh ran onto the ball and kicked a good goal. Josh denies hearing anything from the old blokes. Great to see your concentration is on the game Josh good stuff. The Josh G show continued with a great right foot snap over his left shoulder. Lachlan D kicked the ball in the forward line which was smothered. His fantastic endeavour, second effort and persistence ended with him regaining possession and kicking a great goal. 3rd Quarter - A fantastic smother by Liam on the biggest opposition player ever at Centre Half Back surely stopped them from scoring. The pain only lasts a short time especially when you are enjoying your football. A magnificent Sheppard by Jacob in a packed forward line gave Michael a chance to score. Lachlan D dished out a bump that would slow traffic. He then got the ball and kicked it to Will who marked it and kicked a goal. 4th Quarter - Zac held a courageous pack mark. Matthew took a good chest mark after a kick out by the opposition. His kick was very straight and resulted in a goal that he said "It was about 50 metres out and it went through at post high". Zac got the ball to Sam L-C who kicked a great goal. A fantastic team effort for our first game this year, well done!!!!
